Julia Nielsen has been a productive designer since 2003 when she started selling earrings made from leftover scraps of leather at Spitalfields market in London. Since then the company Hippstory has designed interior deco, paper goods, accessories and jewellery, which are sold in mainly museum shops around the world. Julia also designs bespoke products for museums and others.

The Hippstory universe is colourful, happy and inventive. The products are largely made on Gotland, the jewellery is is cnc milled and hand assembled. We are a small environmentally sustainable company.

New York Times and Vogue France both named Hippstory's own shop the most exciting shop in Stockholm ’Sofo’. In 2019 Julia moved from Stockholm to the beautiful island Gotland in the Baltic and became a part of the island’s the rich craft and design industry, adding sculpture to her creative activities.

Along with other designers on the island Julia now runs the design and craft shop and gallery Stuk in Visby, the medieval capital. At Stuk you can find the complete Hippstory product range.
